How to change box for light above vanity?

My house is over 100 yrs old. Previous occupant of house put in an electrical box above the bathroom vanity but can only mount light with pull switch and those are hard to find when trying to find a new light. Can that be changed to a light with an on/off switch?

I would say no if you mean a normal on/off switch. These are illegal in bathrooms because you could have wet hands when you use them. Replace with a normal light and separate pull cord switch.

yes if what you mean that you want to change a light fitting which is controlled by a pull switch to one which has an on off switch
