My mp3 froze what should I do?

I was just putting music in my mp3 when it was working,then I took it out turned it on and it just said PEARL but then it just froze there.And now to turn it off you will have to take out the batteries.How could I fix it?

try pressing menu ,and the centre of the control together for several seconds---this resets it.
