How can I fix my Grundig gds3000 digibox?

My box shows "no satellite signal received" .I have eliminated the lnb and dish by a thomson box which works. I have tried an attenuator (satcure site suggestion as the cable run is less than 10 metres (9 actually) again with no result. Any suggestions please

This is a standard Grundig problem due as rightly stated to the PSU caps. Worth fixing as the new boxes aren't as good, in fact if you are abroad, only the Pace/Thomson boxes are normally supplied which have a poor history and cant be stacked.

Hi.
Common problem with grundig boxes is leaky electrolitic caps in psu, Can cause lots of different problems from stuck in s/by, blocking up picture, No signal.
Psu kits are available to repair the grundig boxes.
You will need a decent soldering iron with a tip of 1.5mm to 2mm & desolder braid.
Kits are available from CPC uk you can order parts online.

John-thank you for your suggestion however the problem still persists "no satellite signal is being received" .The lnb works with a Thompson box

Have you tried a forced software reset? If not try it first, solves a multitude of problems.

1) Press and hold down back-up button on box.
2) Disconnect & reconnect mains power while holding back-up.
3) After reconnecting power keep button held until all 4 lights illuminate and update message is displayed on-screen (approx 30secs).
4) After download completes (approx 10 mins), leave in standby for 1 minute then switch on & allow channels to refresh.

Otherwise, suspect faulty Low Noise Block on dish.
