i have a 24x cd rom drive for my thinkpad 600x but would like a cd burner, have seen a crx700e ? but is it compatable?. does any one know which ones I can use

A Dell internal device will not fit your ThinkPad because all the manufacturers have different interface standards.

TP 600x are ancient history now and I don't remember them having an internal CD R/W for them. (I used to sell them for IBM.)

I would be inclined to look for an external drive.
