Hot water works but no central heating?

I have a potterton profile 80e boiler which heats the water but does not heat up the radiators. The problem occurred today and whilst trying to get it fixed I noticed that one radiiator in the house began to heat up but the others were still stone cold. Then the radiator that was getting warm also stopped heating.

I had a leaking radiator in another room a few weeks ago which I have now closed. Could this be a contributing factor?

Do not know what the next step is and any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Pat,

Good suggestion below, but before forking out for a plumber, try this.

The leaking radiator could have allowed some air into the water cycle, so as long as the leaking one is now shut off and no longer leaking, try bleeding the other radiators, starting from the lowest and working up to the highest radiator.

Hopefully you wil get a hiss from some of them letting some air out???

Good luck....

the one thats heating is probably last on line and just warming through heat transfer rather than being circulated.

my first checks would be motorised valve to see what position its in. maybe failed in hw position. check room stat is getting and sending power to motorised valve and check pump would be 2nd but id guess valve or stat
