Failure to drain?

My Hotpoint WMA62 is not draining properly & therefore will not spin. I'm pretty sure the waste pipes are not blocked. Any ideas? Would like to know whether it is worth getting someone in to try to fix it or not.

Could well be the drain pump. Fairly simple to replace. Remove it first and see if it spins by hand. Should be a sort of jerky motion (because of magnetism) but should turn smoothly and freely other than that. Disconnect it from electricity before working on it and, if you lean it over, lean it on the pump side to avoid water getting all over the electrical works and connections.
