its a brand new washer approx. 5 months old it will not spin out it just drains the water out of it

Seeing as how you haven't told us what make & model it is we can't answer. Suggest you phone the shop you bought it from as it will be under warranty if it is only 5 months old. If you try to do anything yourself the shop may decline the warranty.
