light switch - 1 & COM?

Had a reply from Steve telling me to use 1 & COM to connect the new light switch, do i put the black wire to 1 and the red wire to COM?

Standard practice is to put red in the com, you can put the black into L1, if you have an L2 connection as well it would make no difference which of these you could use, what would happen is the light switch would work upside down if the wrong terminal was selected, simply swap the black over from L1 to L2 or visa versa.

You have bought the wrong switch. That switch is for two way switching. Go an get th correct switch. It will have only two connectors for your two wires.

I'm sure that Steve isn't telling you to do anything! Advice on this website is given in good faith - you accept, ignore it or act on it at your discretion and at your own risk!

Switch does not care - it either joins the two wires together or separates them as in Open/Closed = Off/On

Put Red in Com and Black in L1
