Laptop wireless connection - Belkin - network key problem?

Have just installed Sky router to PC. Am trying to connect wirelessly to this my laptop via a Belkin adaptor. Do all that they say I should but it won't accept the network key, they say it is too long. How do I resolve this?

Have a similar problem in that my Newtork key cannot be typed in - only 5 or 6 alpha and all numerics are accepted...any suggestions would be welcome!
