how can I view film on cd on my computer with windows 98 SE?

My computer uses windows 98 SE and I have been sent a cd that my son has put film footage on - I am unable to view it on my windows media player as it brings up an error message number 80040154 and I need to download a codec but not sure what to do

download vlc media player, it plays just about anything, www.videolan.com

certain films need cetain codec installed to play them. search google for codecs packs. i use k-lite codec pack as most common codecs are in there.
