main combi 24 he?

We have an erratic problem with the red flashing burner fail light. Heating fails and we have no hot water. Boiler only 18 months old. Occasionally it starts spontaneously, but more often than not we are without heat and water for anything up to an hour at a time. Please help!

I had the same problem. It was fixed quite simply by repressurising the system. Instructions for doing this can be found here: http://www.mainheating.co.uk/docs/main_combi_24_he_user_guide.pdf

It's in section 3 'Repressurising the System'. As a note my boiler already had the 'loop' hose fitted to it so the fix took me about 5 seconds! simples!

The water on my boiler comes cold, unless I run the shower, or use two taps, so the flowof water is higher?

If the boiler is going out after only a very short period or once the boiler is up to temp it could be the low or minimum gas pressure is incorrect causing a fail on flame rectification or possibly the electrode is incorrectly placed, either way this must be done by a gas safe registered engineer

Try clearing the condensate drain. It is located on the bottom right,a rectangular plastic clear box.

There are fixes for this problem on the manual you got with the boiler- if the reset on the front dial doesn't fix it, there are about three possible problems- all of them electrical, there is a sequence of tests to do and check, and you will find out what (if anything) needs to be replaced. (all of them small components) not a major problem- but irritating.......

I am having the same problem. Boiler starts up and after a few minutes red fail light comes on. Have had no heating for 2 days now and cant afford to have somebody come out and look at it! Help!
