No answer, sorry. I had the same problem and I returned it to the Dyson repair centre and the cable was replaced within a few days. The cost of it was A$200.00 and it was returned in a very unclean state. The dust compartment was compleatly unclean, the filters where unclean and now, 6 month after the repair it stopped sucking altogether. The electric cable is working OK, but there is a rubber seal at the air filter does not seal any longer.
My advice, if you can not find a way to replace the cable yourself, do not bother having it serviced by Dyson, buy a new one.
