Hi,

Was using my jigsaw to cut a pine shelf when smoke started to come out through the vents at the side (had a burnt smell) and the blade started to judder and wouldn't go through the wood. What was it that burned out? Is there any way to repair the jigsaw? Thanks.

It sounds like you burned the armature and possibly the field. Depending on the brand of power tool you have...will determine if it is worth it to repair or just replace. Armatures and fields are so expensive, it is usually a power tool replacement.
