Both LG DC593W & Conia M610 suddenly stopped playing all dvds?

Can a dud DVD cause both players to stop working? Does anyone have any ideas on how to get them going again? No matter what type of disk I put in I get 'disk error' or 'no disk'? Would this be a software or hardware problem and is there a way to reset or re-program them? Lots of people seem to have DVD players that suddenly stop playing like this - is it something we are all doing that is causing the problem? Any ideas would be gratefully accepted! leebel@chariot.net.au

I'm so fed up with 'bl**dy' LG...I bought LG DC593W about 4 years ago...It has started to automatically open the loading tray..And it will give me 'disc error' message...I have searched LG's website; and to my frustration the LG DC593W is not on the product list...It seems it's defective this is why it's not there any more...Any help?

My experience with an earlier model Conia was quite different - I took it to Pebble International (now in Scoresby, Vic.) and they repaired it while I waited. Took them about 10 minutes, and they explained exactly what had gone wrong.

Are you dealing directly with Pebble, or with the distributor you bought it off?

I'm sorry I can't help you. I have the LG DC593W combo and my DVD player won't play any discs now either?? It just stopped suddenly with no warning and I can't seem to find any information anywhere. It's 2 years old so no warranty and the repairs would be worth more than buying a new one! Frustrating isn't it....

I've finally had my conia m610 returned (under warranty) with no explanation as to why it stopped playing. It took 2 months to repair. Now, after having it nearly 3 weeks ....you guessed it, it says 'no disk' when I put in a disk. I've rung the company only to be told the person I dealt with no longer works with them. I'm at the stage where I'm asking for my money back! Will let you know if I get any answers.
