Rover 400 heater core COLD?

1999 Rover 416 heater will not heat up. I can push water through the heater core with a hose pipe but when connected to car hoses the core will not heat up. Checked heater valve opens ok, inlet & outlet hoses heat up but wont flow through the heater core. The existing heater hose seems to have a bypass link, has any body an idea what to check / change

hi
i had this problem before, try changing the heater hoses for a known good set, refill cooling system using vac kit, good luck.

Sounds like a stuck thermostat to me. Change it.
