My Bosch HBC84K550B oven/microwave shows Error Code E8?

Having fitted a new inner door glass, error code E8 appears after 3 seconds . Does anyone know why? Is it a DIY repair? Thanks.

Hi,
Thanks for all the help on replacing the internal glass - I have a HBC84K551/02 oven / mircowave. Internal glass Shattered. Used the advice here. When replacing the glass, hold door horizontal tape the rubber seal in place temporarily(better to order a new one with glass). then place glass on top then screw holding plate. It is tricky but possible. Always unplug before replacing glass etc. You may also need to replace the fuse if the mircowave does not work after. Its easy. Unscrew top panel and locate white fuse in circuit board. (order new fuse with glass and seal). Also make sure the door is aligned straight when replacing. I hope this helps.

Very grateful for all this info.
Changed the glass and ended up with an error code 8. Really surprised as I hadn't touched the electrics!
Removed the intergrated microwave from the housing. There's a small access panel to the electrics on top and you can see the fuse but it would be very tricky to replace it without dropping it!
Removed the top panel completely, 8 screws, tested the fuse and it was blown. It's a 10 amp mini fuse (not the same size as a normal plug fuse) which I ordered direct from Bosch.
Everything is fine now.
As a matter of interest I ordered the glass from espares which turned out to be £10 dearer than ordering direct from Bosch!

Hi there, the fan wont turn off. Have to turn the microwave off at the mains in order to turn the fan off. when I turn the oven/microwave back on the fan comes on again even though not using microwave.

This is what I found poking around on the web:

Strangely enough I had exactly the same problem but today managed to fit the new inner glass and door panels without any problems, here is how.
YOU NEED 2 PEOPLE FOR THIS STEP. Open the door, at the top are 2 large plastics flat head screws, undo these making sure your helper is holding the door securely or itll fall on the floor, te door will unhook once the screws are fully undone
Once off you can close the microwave back up.
Now there are two screws, one in each top corner holding a funny looking plastic wing shape that slides into the inner door. They have a star screw head. Undo both of these and remove the plastic wings. When you remove these the panel underneath will try to fall off so be prepared to catch it, along with the plastic screws undone in step 1. This now unhooks like the main door did.
From here you'll be able to see the back of the inner glass. This is held in by a mesh at the back and about 15 screws, star headed again. you can simply remove all of these, that will release the front panel over the inner glass, again, you might want someone to hold the door open so the panel does not drop when you remove the last screws.
Thats it as far as taking the microwave apart. put your new glass in, remembering to make sure the rubber seal is put back between the glass and inner door.
Simply reverse the process.
It took me approximately 1 hour and I am by no means a DIY person.
Good Luck

This inner glass door panel fitted my Bosch combination Microwave/oven perfectly.I had to take out 32 screws to remove the shattered glass. Replacing the glass was a bit fiddly as I had to use tape on all four corners to line up the glass panel with the gasket and mesh (a previous reviewer mentioned this in his review). I was then able to replace the 32 screws. The time I took to replace the glass was worthwhile, I now have a working combination oven.I wouldn't have been able to do it without reading previous reviews, thank you to all who took the trouble to write these reviews.
This glass panel fitted my Neff combination Microwave/ oven perfectly (inner glass door). Fitting it involves working from the outside in , removing the outer and middle glass doors then replacing the shattered inner glass door . This involved removing over 32 screws designed to clamp the door evely in place. To line up the glass panel with the gasket and mesh it needs to be held horizontally with the glass temporarily held in place with tape. Fiddly but straightforward.

Have a new inner glass for my Microwave stove Bosch HBC86K751S/03. Want to change the brocken one. Do not have tech pictures to do that. Anybody has one?

Mammadd, January 2012
it's simple. Replace the fuse on top of the oven. build out the oven and on the left side in a kind of box there are 2 fuses.

Hi thanks for the great advice it work really well and a exspensive call out from bosch!

Had this problem 2 years ago after replacing shattered inner door glass, the problem turned out to be safety fuse controlling door safety catch, which was mis aligned during repair.
Buy the fuses on line, I use Espares, take the oven out of it's housing and remove pressed steel top panel, there you will see the fuse, hey presto fixed.

Had shutdown after 3 seconds and e8 on mine after taking door off to clean it, because i left it powered up, gourmet hbc84k5.0b. The crowbar protection had triggered because i fiddled trying to get the door lined up and triggered the door detect safety switches in the wrong sequence or not together. Looks like a panasonic inside, found the crowbar fuse, 20mm white ceramic 8 amp, on the circuit board, changed it, lined up the door with the power off and it worked fine after putting it back in its hole in the wall. These later models have an inverter supply for the magnatron, make sure the air vents and fans are clean and dust free, they overheat and fail costing £100 and upwards to repair.

Having the same problem, noticed arcing prior to the inner glass suddenly shattering, replaced inner glass no problem, now i don't see an error message, cooker and grill work fine but as soon as you operate the microwave it switches off after 3 or 4 seconds. any ideas?

Rob Lloyd, July 2009
Having exactly the same problem with same model Nov 2005 purchased and saw arcing prior to door iner glass shattering when open from a 2 minute 600W cycle. Replaced glass now E8 error appears, handbook quotes to press start again, fault continues.
Any idea how to fix this?

The appliance is now repaired! I am told that too much pressure was applied to the door whilst replacing the inner glass and that the door switches were consequently mis-alligned.The shattered glass was due to arcing to a tiny section of exposed metal(adjacent to the glass) where the enamel had been chipped. Hope this is of some help!

Brian, December 2008
Yes,the inner glass DID shatter unexpectedly. The appliance was bought in April 2005 and has had comparatively little use since.
Brian.

i think it is a safety feature - saying oven door is not/may be not microwave proof - if repaired by engineer they reset it - did you change your inner glass because it shattered unexpectedly - we are researching a problem with this model - how old is your micro - let us know - thanks

Trying to locate a local technician to solve the problem (hopefully). Will keep you posted.
