How can I fix my Ford RDS 7000?

I had to change the battery on my wife's Scorpio Ultima 2.3 Estate.When I switch the radio on, the sreen lightys up, but it is not giving me the oppurtunity to enter the code, ei re bot the radio. Any suggestions?
