sanivite 3?

We have just moved into a flat which has a sanivite 3 system pump under sink. Only sink water flows out with no other appliances attached to it. It pumps loudly and recently seems blocked but water eventually empties. My question is( since I have no instructions) : Does the pump need cleaning periodically? And how often do the pumps need replacing ?

We have the same system in our flat in France. No need to clean (apparently) but every six months, I remove the power to the unit, take the rectangular "plug" off on top, and pour in about half a bottle of normal drain cleaner. Leave it for a half-hour or so, then replace the cap, restore power, and flush for a few minutes via the sink. We have had no problems with this great little product! Good luck.
