If I understand correctly, the starter works when cold but not when hot. Check the voltage at the starter connection when trying to engage the starter, it may be high resistance when hot due to connection or cable problems. Intermittent starter can be caused by worn brushes in the starter too. Often the solenoid gets blamed for this condition but is rarely the culprit. When checking the voltage, check both the battery cable feed wire and the solenoid activation wires as either can be the cause.
