I need to open a Kenmore Cannister vacuum model 116.2451290 to fix the cord retractor. I cannot figure out how to remove the cord return release door to get at the two screws underneath that secure the top to the bottom of the vac. There appears to be a plastic catch pin but how do you release it?

I usually just jam two or three flathead screwdrivers down in there and then the plastic cover pops right off.
