I keep getting an Error E31 on my hotpoint Ultima Extra WDM73?

I keep getting an Error E31 on my hotpoint Ultima Extra WDM73. It will stop midcycle or mid drying cycle and say Error 31 see user manual. We don't have a user manual.. what do we do ? How can we fix this? Should we call an engineer? It seems to them work if you switch if off then on again?
Thanks

I have had nothing but problems with my wdm73 the machine is an absoloute lemon. the first went through two main electrical boards then the balance weight detached itsekf from the drum then it ate lots of socks i get another machine guess what it eats socks reguarly so i am always taking the back off as it is now out of warranty.

But good news for I found a book called can they do that which has a section on consumer products retailers etc ,
it advises word for word as follows,
A garuntee or warranty from the manafacturer is in addition to your legal rights. These protect you against the sale faulty goods and are binding for six years after the purchase date. If you can show that the failure is caused by a fault in the equipment or its components that was there when you bought them, the trader must provide a free replacement or repair.

Dont take nor an awnser get a new alternative model as this is a design fault.

Hi,

I have a similar problem on the same machine. It's probably your water pump - blocked or broken. The machine happily washes then gets to the pumping cycle and finds it can pump. First try removing the back cover and checking the hose isn't blocked (at the bottom of the drum). Failing that, the pump is easy to get to if you can find a spare, but you're probably better calling a technician in case its the controller or something that's gone wrong - good luck!! P.S always unplug from the mains before opening as there are 250V on unprotected spade connectors - and without exageration, you could kill yourself!!
