How can I refit and adjust the top thread tenioning unit?

The top thread tentioning assembly on my New Home m/c modle No. 530 has fallen off.
How do I adjust the tentioning assembly before refitting it.
At the moment the thread jams in the unit between the two pressure plates

You have to put the tension unit in first then reset the tension.
