not enough water in my dishwater?

when my dish washer takes in water at the start of its cycle, it does not seem to submerge the element. why

my dishwasher (diplomat) does not take in any water at all so does not get past the first stage even on rinse

Hi George, the water only comes up to the level of the element.the motor then starts and sprays the water all over the element, so heating it as it gets recirculated around the tank.All the best.
