My problem is that my Philips 42FD9932 will shut off after a few minutes use and a the led will be red. I cleaned the fan grilles on top of the unit and put a large muffin fan (like from a computer) on the top where the grilles are to help suck air through. It does not shut off now. I am working on a permanant fix like a permanant fan or actually determining what circuit is overheating. The units fan work. If your unit won't turn on and gives you a flashing red led, unplug the power and wait 30 seconds then plug it back in. It should work.

if you type 062596menu.this will take you into the system defauly mode SDM on the screen you will see something like this ,f19dc14.0 00044 XXXX SDM,then underneath,ERROR:15 14 03 07 13,then underneath,12 11 08 02 01.the XXXX on top line is the ammount of screen hours.the 2 lines of numbers below are error codes which a philips repairer would use to identify problems.if you get any results can you post them.

I found my problem via local TV repair shop, and verified the probable cause by Philips beforehand. The problem is a failed Power Supply unit. And, Philips acknowledged that they have been failing after about 2 - 3 years!!! For a TV that originally cost 5+ figures, that sucks! Philips put a "lemon" part into this model TV.

I also have this problem with this unit. However, mine shuts off after various amounts of time.....sometimes hours, sometimes in less than a minute! Really annoying!! Does anyone have an idea? I've read about possible fan or infrared ray problems causing this unwanted shutdown.

display is the usual trouble for the 42fd9932
