Britony FlexiFlue – heater shuts off while water flowing?

The water heater is somewhat old but had a new diaphragm 20 months ago.
The current problem is that it intermittently goes off after ~2 minutes, which is inconvenient in the middle of a shower. When it goes off the pilot light also extinguishes.
Any help would be gratefully received.

it sounds like the heat exchanger is blocked it then over heats and that is what coures pilot to go out
