Light bulb overhead fixture pull string broke?

Thing's been broke forever, it's one of those deals that has a ball-chain attached into the fixture with a string tied to it somehow for length (because it's like 7.5 feet up in the top of my closet). The string broke about 2 inches down from the end of the chain. It's really difficult to get in there and look at what's going on. I guess I need to replace the string somehow or better yet how do I get ahold of a long peice of that ball-chain stuff?

If you haven't fixed it try B & Q look for the chain display and see if that type of chain is there. Or alternative is a shop that sells window blinds they WILL have it, both plastic and metal plus most likely the joiner cups also.

Well not sure where youd get replacement string from, but if youve got the old piece which broke off you can re-use that surely? Youd need to take off the cover to the socket itself and see how the remaining string is held in, and from there you should be able to figure out how to 1. remove the remaining piece and 2. attach the end of the piece which broke off.
Its a good idea if you turn off the lighting at the fuse box before you attempt any of this, and make sure you have adequate light and a safe ladder in place.
