Have the vaillant ecotech combi fault code f.76 appeared does anyone know what this means and how to get the boiler working?

PLEASE IGNORE MY PREVIOUS COMMENTS. THE GAS ENGINEER TURNED UP, HIT A BUTTON (OR TWO) AND FIXED THE PROBLEM. I TOLD HIM I'D FOLLOWED THE INSTRUCTION MANUAL FOR RESET. HE TOLD ME THE ENGINEERS HAVE A 'SPECIAL' RESET CODE AND HE WASN'T PREPARED TO DIVULGE THE SAID. I ASKED HIM ABOUT F76 AS DESCRIBED ON VAILLANTS PDF DOCUMENT. HE TOLD ME IT WAS RUBBISH. BEWARE OF BEING RIPPED OFF ON THIS ONE. THE GUY HIT A BUTTON (OR TWO) AND THE SYSTEM WORKS PERFECTLY. NO WORK...IT TOOK HIM 1 MINUTE...AND PART OF THAT WAS THE RESET TIME... ABSOLUTELY FURIOUS. IF THE GUY CAN FIX A PROBLEM BY PUSHING A BUTTON, WHY CAN'T THE PUBLIC?

I should add, discuss this with your gas engineer prior to any work. A fuse/loose electrical connection is one thing; a replacement of of the heating unit (heat exchanger) is quite another.

I have the same problem. F76 is not listed in your manual. It is listed in the on-line version (just by your posting -pdf/html). It's on page 43...Overheating protection on primary heat exchanger triggered - Cable or cable connection of fuse in the primary heat exchanger defective or primary heat exchanger defective. Basically, you can't repair the problem yourself but, it may have occurred during routine maintenance. When my boiler was serviced I had a fault - the engineer had forgotten to reconnect an electrical cable - this may be why I'm experiencing the current problem. Hope this helps.
