Leak from detergent tray?

I've a Hotpoint WD64 washer/dryer, water floods from the detergent tray when filling, everything seems clear, all pipes to drum are fine.
Is the cold water pressure too high? but it used to be ok? could there be a problem in the tray housing whereby the water is spraying outwards instead of downwards during fill?
Can you advise please.
Thanks Roy

you can fit reducer washers to the inlet valve to slow the flow of the incoming water, sounds like water pressure is a bit high. Also check for limescale which might be diverting the incoming spray.
