Bernina record 730 foot pedal replacement?

Trying to find a replacement foot pedal for a Bernina Record 730 light green model.

I have a type 289 foot pedal and it only works on max setting. Recently the motor burnt out and I wondered if it too the rheostat out too. I am trying to find a new rheostat to fit to it. Does anyone know where I could get spare parts for it.

My machine was also running without me using the pedal. My sewing machine engineer removed the capacitor from inside the foot pedal and it has been working perfectly ever since. I hope this helps

Yes, I had this problem about 7 years ago, I'm not sure what the service man did, but after it occured a second time he did not replace those parts - he is in Vancouver, B.C. I could give you a phone #. I am still using the original pedal but without those parts.

I also am looking for Bernina 730 foot pedal. When I was sewing one day the machine kept running even when I took my foot off the pedal, I had to pull the plug to stop it. We took the foot pedal apart and found that the carbon discs inside the rheostat had all disintegrated to powder. We have had no luck finding a replacement. The best thing so far is that a repairman in Lethbridge, Alberta said that he could rewire the original cord into a new generic foot pedal. However, I have read that a newer type pedal could possibly cause surges which could burn the motor out. I love this machine and hate to think of replacing it, it still sews so beautifully.
