Go around to all your radiators and make sure the TRV is open to full. With the heating on and the rads hot carefully open each bleed valve on the top of each rad in turn, if you have water coming out right away close the bleed valve and move on to the next rad in turn.
Repeat the first step again if you hear air escaping from the bleed valve allow all the air to escape and once the water starts to flow from the hole lock off the valve and repeat again. Once you have checked all the rads in the house and you are happy that no air pockets have been left in the rads move down to the boiler again and check the pressure.
If the pressure is still very high you will need to release more water from the central heating loop!
You have already completed the easy way of releasing pressure in the system, if the above task was completed without any problems.
If the pressure is still very high you can move to the furthest rad from the boiler and repeat the above task again however this can take you quite some time.
Another way of reducing the pressure quickly is to locate a radiator on the lower floor that has a drain tap attached to the pipework at the bottom coming from the rad. Find a piece of pipe (HOSE PIPE) and push it over the end of the drain valve make sure that you have a tight fit. If loose use a compression hose ring tighten it up to ensure you have no leaks.
With a special square ended KEY open the valve slowly and have someone standing next to the boiler watching the pressure gauge. As you open the drain valve the pressure on the boiler will start to drop. Stop at the correct pressure and tighten up the drain valve. If you do not have a special key for the job try using a pair of pliers or what ever you can get to work.
