my hptpoint wma35 electric switch at mains tripped out now machine wont fin?

I have a hotpoint aquarius wma The model with the 1100 spin ihave no problems with it concidering i have mega washloads and it`s on constantly.
This morning my husband got up and turned it on and at the electricity switch box for the house a switch had tripped out.
He pressed the switch back in he waited then he turned the swich on my washer to attempt to get it to work.
I think he should have left it but never mind. Anyway since then it permanently flashes on button saying door locked even though the door will now open without the lock whereas it would not before. I pressed the button and the wash light went on also the spin light etc but nothing happens. I have tried swiching it off at the plug and back on. I have tried leaving the machine for ages to see if it kicks in itself nothing works.
Any ideas of what may have occured.
Or how to solve this problem. Also if its worth having it repaired as if costly to repair not worth it . Would be grateful for any replies or advice thank you

Hi, this morning my WMA35 did exactly the same thing.

The PCB board had not just burnt as you described but i also noticed some copper tracks had popped off of it. That is not a good sign, it means a huge amount of current had shorted on the tracks.

I resoldered the broken tracks and went for another run of the machine. After 10 seconds of running i heard a bang and it had failed again! Every component on the board has been checked and seems to be ok so the problem seesm to lie further into the machine. The second attempt produced another broken track on the board but in another place, this time on a path that leads to the motor.

Unfortunately i could not check the motor brushes because i do not have the special socket to remove them with but tommorow i will get it off to check the brushes. I suspect that something is going wrong in the brush section.

The machine is about 4 years old so brushes are due replacement but exploding is not the preferred method of communication on that matter.

Can't help, but mine has done exactly the same thing. Question.... Did the Washing machine cause the trip?

Hi i did not expect to get an answer quickly which i never.
Anyway for those of you who may encounter the same problem.
My son came in from work and he took the front bit at the top of my washer off and behind the programme dial the switch you turn to put the correct wash on for example h on my machine is a 40% wash well behind that switch it was black and sooty and smelt of electrical burning on the circuit board was also sooty near that part obviously short circuited i would say. Not going to buy a new circuit board plus have it fitted so have decided no option but to go for a new washer.
