How old is my Hamilton Mantle Clock?

I inherited my uncle's retirement clock from Penntech Paper Company. It is a Hamilton chiming mantle clock. It has a key with 3 holes in the front for winding. So far, seems to work o.k. The numbers on the back are 340-020. Is it manufactured by Hermle? It says Two jewels, unajusted, made in Germany with those numbers under the words. It has a lovely chime which is not too loud to leave on at night. What a nice memory of my uncle. Do I need to do any kind of maintenance on it? I am from the "if it ain't broke don't fix it school!" Thank you for any light you can shed on my clock.

I have the same gladwyn, was my grandathers retirement gift from Suburban propane,,,made in 1977. it is wound fully and chimes when I set time, but does not run. I have tried shaking gently as per the care instructions I inherited to start the movement. However, it doesn't run. I remember hearing chimes at their home and want it to run. Any suggestions? my grandparents had taken it for repairs in past.

Hello, I have just taken a movement out from case with same numbers,340-020,to clean it.And with,TEMPORA, on back plate, and Alexander Clark,on dial. But in all cases made by HERMIE.If you look just above the 340-020 stamp, you will see the year stamped.Found mine as it was hidden from view by a lever,70,so mine was made in 1970. Hope this helps, cheerio. 28/12/08
