hands don't move; chimes are off of time set?

changed batteries, now hands will not move. The chime rang 7, then 8, then 9 times when set at 4:00
How can I fix this?
Maggie, September 2016
Set the hands to match the chimes & then set the time. Make the clock chime and then physically rotate the hands - by hand - not with the adjuster - to match the time of the chime.

Then use the adjuster to set the hands to the correct time.

The hands are a press fit onto the shafts that drive them - if the hands don't move then either the hands have come lose on their shafts -OR- the clock mechanism is defective
