How do I enter the radio code in a Renault clio?

The radio in my renault clio is asking for a code and when I enter the code there is no enter button to press afterwards so the radio would accept the code. What do I do?

When the 0000 comes up, you can use buttons 1,2,3,4 to change between digits (1 selects first digit etc) then keep pressing that same button to increase the number. For example, if your code started with 4, you would press 1 to select the first digit, then press 1 four times to change it to number 4 - then press 2 to move to the next digit and so on. After changing all the zeros to the correct number, you can hold down 6 for a few seconds and the radio should start working. This worked on my 51 plate clio, which also has the radio remote stick on the side of the steering wheel, but I found this method first. Presumably this method would also work for models without the remote stick.

I've just had to enter the code in to a renault clio 55 plate and managed to do this by turning the wheel on the radio control stalk (the one you'd normally use to change tracks on a cd) to change the number, then clicking the wheel once towards me to move to the next digit. Once all 4 digits where in I pulled the wheel towards me again for 2-3 seconds and the radio now works.
Hope this helps.

Hi,

My radio just says 0000 but I cant get it to flash. I know my code and how to enter it but cant get the code to flash to enter the 1st digit.
Any help would be appreciated! Have tried turning radio on and off, engine and and off, pressing random buttons down and holding them but nothing seems to work!
Thanks

I wound up using a mixture of gary and emma's suggestions. At first our radio said 'error' in the display. It had to be left around 5 to 10 minutes before the 0000 came up. Sure enough the little wheel at the back of the remote control stalk changed the digits, (as did the arrows on the radio panel, but not the numbers) but the mute button didn't work when I tried to accept the first number. But pressing seemingly random numbers on the radio panel did work and it moved to the next flashing digit eventually. when all 4 numbers were in holding the mute button on the stalk didn't work. I had to hold number 6 in for a few seconds. Maybe our radio has just gone slightly faulty but it works fine now.

i have found that you turn the wheel to change the numbers and the channel changing button undernearth the stalk to move across the digit positions. To enter i press the 6 buuton for a few seconds.

Here is another way - not using Steering Wheel Stalk.

When inputting the code, it can be done using the numbers on the radio. Channel Numbers 1 to 4 change the number of the corresponding digit position on the screen. Use the LEFT/RIGHT keys (on joystick to left of channel buttons) to decrement/increment the current digit. then holding down 6 for approximately 3 seconds will enter the code you have entered, confirming with a beep tone.

I tried using the mute button but it never woked. I used the button at the botton of your keypad at the sieo the wheel think its used for changing the radio station.

hey, i dont no if anyone comes on here anymore, (last comment 2005 lol)

but i have the same problem, i understood the reply but i have no mute button between the volume buttons, i have to hold the + and - together to mute mine. any suggestions?

Emma, February 2009
Hiya, I had to figure this out after changing the battery on my girlfriend's Clio today.
Firstly, turn on the radio (duh!). The code 0000 should be displayed with the first digit flashing. Turn the small wheel on the back of the radio control stalk and the flasing digit will change. Once it is set to the first digit of your radio code, press the mute button on the radio control stalk (between the volume buttons). The next digit should now be flashing. Use the small wheel again to change each of the other digits in turn pressing mute after each one is set correctly. Once all the digits are correct, press and hold the mute button for a few seconds and HEY PRESTO! The radio will work normally.
Hope I explained it well enough. Good luck!
