can somebody please tell me how to do the felt around the edges and how to cut the corners to make them look neat

The hardest bit of a flat roof is the drip edge.
Well not anymore cos Rapid Drip Former does all the work for you. You just simply nail it on and it bends round corners.

I bought it from Asphaltic Roofing Supplies in Cheam Surrey Tel: 020 8337 9455. you get 5 metres in a pack.
easy peeezie and mega quick :-)

Owe yes Rapid Drip Former is a brand new product so not many builders know about it yet. The wesite has a video to show you how to fit them its a doddle.

Search rapid drip former on ebay and you can see them.

Hi,

Yes the answer is very easy. There is a product called "Rapid Drip Former" they are prefabricated edges with a perfect felt finish. I used them on my roof and they were really quick and looked really neat. I think the website for details is www.rapiddripformer.co.uk but i also have seen them just come onto ebay now.

not very easily mate as i have been aflat roofer for the past 12 years and to be honest if this is not something you do every day then it will not be easy to make it look good and neat and to be honest the best way to try and do it if you really want to do it yourself will be to look at how a corner has been formaed on a simular roof and try and recapture that detail in your head to do on yours. and as for doing the drips around the sides go to your local roofing supplier and ask for some drip former or drip easy and that will help you get a proper job mate. any queries just get in touch and where you from anyway

hi jason an update to my previous answer. there is a product on sale at roofing suppliers which is a upvc drip edge it merely clips over the roof edge it comes in 3 metre lengths and you also buy the corner pieces that clip on, its about £11 plus vat a length, same price for the corners, it being an L shape you have to felt over the piece that lays on the roof to hold it down. my supplier in brighton is asphaltic roofing supplies, you may have one near you, the product is called something like kilron, good luck mate

doing drip edges is one of the skills that we roofers are trained to do, i dont think that it can be told via words on here, its that fine detail that makes a job, you may get some tips on youtube, were there are quite a few roofers showing their skills, good luck, hope it works out, alan. ghyllsidebuilders@hotmail.com
