Possible to repair the tape?

I have an audio cassette that snapped while being played several years ago. It has someone dear to me on it and I dunno where I heard this but I think its possible to use clear nailpolish to repair the break in the tape. The tape didn't get chewed up or anything, as soon as I heard the snap I stopped it and took it out. Please confirm if nailpolish works and advise on how to go about this repair, I would really appreciate it! Thanks so much,

Solange

Solange - did you get any replies to your question about cassette repairs? I have the same problem and need to repair a TDK audio cassette.

use sellotape for the join then re-record the original onto a new tape.
works every time

Nail varnish might melt the tape I think - do a trial with it on a casette you can afford to destroy.

Here's a 1953 article on tape splicing. I have used scotch tape on a Video but not on an audio casette.
