Our Hotpoint WD71 Ultima 1200 Washer Dryer has developed a fault in that various buttons do not function. Also the screen is displaying random characters and symbols although now there is currently nothing on the screen.

The machine appears to be washing as normal.

Can anyone advise what we should do, it is no longer under warranty.

We had a button problem with this model, water from soap drawer rots the keyboard membrane, it also can short making lcd go odd.

I fixed it with very careful soldering of 'jumper' wires around the rotted section.

If you want to do this, it takes hours and a steady hand etc.

I am looking for a manual for this machine / wiring diagram etc, or digital camera pictures will do etc of the wire connections on the boards (mainly the one with the transformer on) / water level switch.

unplug the machine then take the table top off and remove the facia there should be one light blue wire going into the board unclip that becareful not to break it then unscrew from the top and the soap drawer then there are little clips at the bottom off the facia now u have the facia unscrew the board and unclip it carefully then you will have full access to the buttpns take them out give them a clean and push them back through make sure there all the way through then put it all back together
