Hotpoint BF1680 dishwasher 3yrs old tripped ring main?

What would cause the dishwasher to made loud bang and trip the ring main, there was no pre warning of any fault, it happened at the start of the cycle.

dont know but the same happened to me. Suspect a design fault in the wiring!!!!????
