noisy extractor?

my silavent extractor makes awful racket when first switched on. could it be bearings shot? apx. 10 years old, not heavy use.

Not saying this is the problem but a crapped up fan blades could be the problem upsetting balance as I've been told. If you can access it clean it and see what happens, then again you may be right if it's 10yrs old.
