My Hotpoint washing machine wont start a wash??

My Hotpoint WT965 was half way through a wash and the electric turned off. I changed the fuse on the washing machine and put the wash back on and the mains electric kept on blowing. I could smell burning from the washing machine. I opened the door and emptied the water out and the clothes and left the machine turned off for a couple of days. I today put some washing in and set the machione to 30 but when I press start the Door Lock icon on the digital screen keeps flashing and the machine wont start. Can anyone help please???

your wt965 washing machine has a 3 phase module fitted to the right hand side lower rear of the cabinet ,this is the brain of the appliance ,the door lock is controlled by this ,although the door is closed the module still thinks the door is open,
a new module would be needed cost around £90 ,and then it would need programming, your appliance is covered by a 5 year parts cover but hotpoint would charge a call out around £100,
hope this helps

Hi Danny, we have looked at some of the things that you mentioned and a new code has come on the screen F01 this happened after we were checking the door part. Do you know what this means??

Check out the carbon brushes in the motor. Theyre graphite blocks which transfer mains power to the copper segments of the motor -Theyre probably worn down. They're quite cheap parts and easy to replace. Power off, drag machine out onto the floor, remove the back cover and locate the motor. May help if the machine is tilted at an angle or laid on its side. The brushes are at the other end of the motor from the drive pulley. The holders are plastic or bakelite and are generally held in with screws or plastic clips. Also, look at the copper segments they run on to check for burning or pitting. If the segments are burnt or damaged you need a replacement motor or a replacement armature (motor part) if you can source one. Occasionally may be a fault in the motor drive circuit board - in which case replacement of board only real option.
