Are LCD screen repairs possible?

I have a less than a year old Samsung L83T digital camera. The screen has cracked horribly but on the inside, such that physically there are no cracks but when the camera is switched on all I see are crack lines across the screen and blankness. I didn't drop the camera so I'm assuming its due to pressure. Besides the major issue of the LCD cracking, the camera works fine, is it possible to just replace the screen? If possible is it expensive? Please help! Thanks(:

There are probably two ways you could do this:

(1) Send your camera to the manufacturer repair center and they should be able to repair it. Unfortunately, this seems to cost as much as the original product itself.

(2) Look around Ebay for someone selling your model of camera. If you have the right tools you can probably be able to dismantle your camera and replace the broken part without any soldering. Most components are attached using connector cables and heat-conductive adhesive foil (copper/aluminum/silver).

You would need a jewellers toolkit (a set of small screwdrivers) and at least one roll of foil in order to put everything back together again. Use an ice-cube tray to store all the small screws, and use a notebook/camera to keep track of where everything came from/goes to.

You can make a mini clean-room from a large plastic box and a transparent plastic bag (with a couple of holes cut so you can get your hands in.

Before you do anything Contact Samsung see what they say they may offer a repair at reduced cost or even go as far as repair under warranty it's worth a try. www.samsung.com/uk

Secondly if a house holder with contents cover insurance claim if that sort of item is covered.
Usually you don't pay out excess it's deducted from the price of the item, you may get enough to buy a another new one also a case to put it in.
