Unit records but will not read disc for playback or editing. Screen indicates "NO DISC" when atttempting to playback/edit.

Where can I purchase a new laser for the DVDR72? I am a service technician and could possibly replace it.

Hi, comon problem with this model. The lasers fail and Philips have bought out a new modifyed laser. Also make sure you are using dvd+ rw NOT dvd-rw. and also look for dvd+rw with a slower read speed like 4x NOT any thing like 2x - 8x speed. They like one constant speed for reading and writing. Hope this help.
