Is there a fix for a Sony Bravia stuck in standby due to overheating?

My Sony Bravia KDL-40V2500 is stuck in standby mode. It shut down by itself, standby flashes seven flashes, then repeats the pattern. I am aware that means overheating, I am sure that is the problem. Any self fix for this?

Thanks Richard!! We had tripped all house breakers last night and the standby light would not go off. Just a while ago we turned off the Main Breaker and finally got it to go off, then waited a couple minutes and got LUCKY------TV is working fine!! We could not get to the plug due to the type of install, so tripping breakers was the only other option. Somehow with the intermitment flashing of the standby light it was hard to tell if it ever went off. Happy New Year!!

Bit of a guess here but... First sort out why it overheated so it doesn't do it again. Second unplug it and leave it disconnected for at least three minutes so that any faults stored in the volatile memory are lost. Then turn it on and hope!
