How can i fix my hotpoint fridge freezer?

how can i repair my hotpoint fridge freezer? its has defrosted its self and lights show saying its at high tempurature but dont know why? when turned on the appliance makes a noise but then stops and cuts off? what could it be?

sounds very much like the compressor is faulty. unfortunately uk laws prevent anyone who isnt at lease refridgerant handling compitant to carry out any repairs to these units.

Quite likely to be the thermostat in the fridge. If you short out the wires to it and the compressor starts to run then that's your problem.
