Having discovered A water loged carpet on the passenger side
and having to top up the radiator expansion tank
could there be A conection and if so could it be from the
heater radiator and,how can I test ,.

have you fixed this problem as i have got the same problem but i dont know were to start removing the heater matrix please e-mail if you can help thank you

its probably coming from your heater matrix at the bottom of the center console,behind the carpets,i had the same problem on a toyota previa and had to bypass it under the bonnet with a u bend on the piping until i got a new one. the only trouble is mean while the internal heater wont work.so best to get a new one if it is leaking.
