sounds like a motor problem, the most likly cause is the motor brushes have worn down and are not touching the comutator, usually you also need to clean the comutator when changing the brushes

check the brushes on the motor easy to replace if knackeredand only abouy 5 pounds its cheaper than a new motor all the best r dalton

the drum motor isnt operating, or the belt has broken, or the direct drive for the drum motor has broken.
