Hotpoint csx22gr temp. control?

I have a hotpoint csx22gr side by side refridgerator/freezer. Will not quit running to defrost. Not getting cold enough in either side. I defrosted it twice latley but problem still not fixed. Can you help?

It may be that the defrost thermostat is bad or that the defrost heaters are bad. Did you take off the back panel in the freezer and see the coils covered in ice?
