Machine stops at the rinse/spin cycle?

The machine stops at the final few cycles, when the water is too be drained out. The light indicates there is power, and there is the usual sound but the machine dosen't register or click over...

if its a top load washer. there may be something stuck between the outer tub and the basket. if you catch it soon enough you might be able to pull it out without taking anything apart.

If the water is not pumped out can you hear a faint humming sound? If so that noise is the pump trying to spin & pump out the water. Machine will not do anything else until all water is out. The pump can't turn if there is something blocking it. You will need to get someone to clear the pump for you. Don't leave pump on for too long as it will overheat if it is stuck.
