When a DVD in incerted into the machine it goes through the normal loading but quickly comes back NO DISC. The player will still play a CD but not a DVD.I have tried numerours different DVDs.

I would like to know the same. I have a PDV-0701A. It just over night started saying there's NO disc regardless if it's a dvd or music cd. I did notice next to the pc that moves there's a black or grey plastic pc attached to a thin "sensor" type cord going into the "eye". Kinda looks like that broke or something but then it's not long enough to reach from where it goes and to the edge of the spot the dvd goes.

I might have to "frankenstein" it with a working one...(but broken display)
