I can not open the DVD draw to release the DVD the message shows self check and error code U99.The only way the Machine will stop is to unplug it from the electicity supply

In order to emergency eject a DVD when 'SLF CHECK' is indicated on the display window, switch off the unit by pressing the power push button for 10", the simultaneously push CHANNEL UP and STOP push button for 10".

Bob. The reason your Panasonic combo recorder recently failed is due to two defective capacitors on the unit's internal power-supply board. The unit can easily be restored back to fully operation condition yourself in under 20 minutes and costs between $1.59 and $5.00 for the replacement capacitor(s) available at your local Radio Shack.
